Road Closures & Short Delays
Launiupoko Beach Area

The Maui Oceanfront Marathon finishes near Launiupoko Beach.

Between 5:00 AM and 1 PM, the Honopiilani Hwy, from Hokiokio Place south to the Lahaina Bypass truck crossing, will be closed to all traffic for the safety of runners.

Surfers and fishermen may go south to ½ mile north of Launiupoko, where the road will be hard closed until 12:30 PM.

Launiupoko Beach is open and accessible by coming down Kai Hele Ku St off the bypass.

All road restrictions are off at 1 PM.
Wailea Hotel Area

Wailea, between Okolani Drive and Kaukahi Street (near the Fairmont Hotel), will be closed to traffic from 4:00 AM to 5:30 AM. Southbound traffic will have one lane, and runners will use the curb lane.

Northbound traffic on the Wailea Alanui Dr. will not be affected.

Wailea hotel guests should proceed with caution during this period.

Runners will be in the bike lanes on South Kihei Road to the Honoapiilani Highway.

Race activities will cease as the runners move north towards Lahaina. The race concludes at noon at Launiupoko, and restrictions are lifted at 5:30 AM in the Wailea area.
Maalaea area

The Maui Oceanfront Half Marathon starts on Maalaea Rd.

Maalaea Rd will be closed to traffic off of H30 starting at 5 AM

Runners will gather there, start at 6:40 AM, run west to Hauoli St, head down Hauoli Street, and turn back at the bridge.

Runners will head back to the start line and enter H30 at the east end of Maalaea Rd.

Traffic heading to Maalaea Harbor should turn onto Kapoli Street (near the Union Gas Station) and, as directed by the MPD, proceed through the parking lot to Hauoli Street.

Turn towards the Harbor at the traffic-controlled intersection at Hauoli and Maalaea Road.

Maalaea Road and Hauoli Street will be back to normal by 7:10 AM.
