The Maui Oceanfront Marathon

This is the RRCA State Marathon Championship, and special awards will be given. (Road Runners Club of America)

The marathon starts at the Shops of Wailea North Parking Lot.

The course heads north from there along Wailea Alanui Drive, then proceeds down to South Kihei Road at mile 1.

It passes through oceanfront Kihei Town with a left turn onto Highway 30 at 11 miles near Ma'alaea Bay. It continues along the oceanfront to Launiupoko Beach, 2.5 miles south of Old Lahaina Town.

The last 2 miles are run on the closed H-30 and finish outside Launiupoko Beach Park. Supporters should bring a towel and beach chairs.

Showers are available at Launiupoko Beach Park, and flush toilets are available at the finish line.

If you don't have a ride and aren't loved, you can buy a $20 ticket to the Wailea start line.

Other shuttle buses cost $5.

The course is fully paved with asphalt, including the shoulder, which is mostly between 4 and 6 feet wide.

Many scenic pullouts and public beaches along the course offer spots for family and friends to park, picnic, and cheer you on.

Parking at the Shops at Wailea is free.

Have your support crew watch the Hawaiian Blessing at the start line, then meet you along the route for photos, and meet you at the finish line with your belongings.

Sunrise is around 7 AM. First light is around 6:40 AM.

You will need a headlamp—no exceptions. Get one at your local Home Depot. Please put your name on it. Drop it off at one of the three designated aid stations, and the sweepers will bring it to the finish line.

The Finish Line closes at noon.

Last shuttle bus departs at 12:30 PM. Plan accordingly.

18 Aid stations along the course serving Gatorade, water, and snacks.

Note that we do not use paper cups. We will give you a reusable crushable cup at the start line.

You will carry and use this cup the whole race. If you don't want the cup, bring your own bottle or a camelback, or practice drinking from your cupped hands.

This is a Boston Marathon qualifying course.

The course was measured and certified in December 2023 by Doug Thurston.
